Enterprise
(10:10 am to 11:40 am)
by Henry Mintzberg and Phil Le Nir
1) Your personal management style as Art
Craft Science (with hand-out for
exercise for participants)
2) Crafting Strategy -> as a small
company, strategy naturally emerges...as
we grow, we "think" we need to start
strategic planning like a big companies,
and we "think" that in a large company
strategy == a plan. But this can lead to
failure as we grow.
3) Heroic Leadership -> as CEO of a
rapidly expanding small company, our ego
can easily overcome us and turn us into
a "Heroic leaders".
4) Organizations as communities -> in a
small organization, we know everyone’s
name and everyone is a human being to
us. As the organization grows, we have
an inclination to begin to see people as
human resources. This leads to many of
the problems we see in HR and L&D etc...
But there are ways to avoid this.
5) Using HR as your strategy for growth
and innovation
6) Succession Management -> Russian
roulette in the small company
7) Quebec’s St Lawrence Valley:
technology with art
