Synopsis :

Managing Innovation and Creativity Workshop

In this session, we'll start with a highly interactive, Harvard Business School style discussion of the case of e-Types, a company struggling to resolve a disagreement between its managers and "creatives" about how to respond to a customer request for proposal. As we explore the e-Types case then move beyond it to a more general discussion, we'll identify 21st century business challenges of increasing relevance to all companies. The competitive ground is literally shifting beneath the feet of 21st century CEOs, especially those whose companies are based in developed economies (like Canada's). We'll explore the many implications of this shift for how managers need to do their jobs going forward.

Takeways :

o Understanding of some of the important ways that the competitive landscape is changing to the disadvantage firms who stick to past modes of competition

o Illustration of the many ways our established management reflexes (including many of the things we teach in business schools and that worked very well in the past) might be exactly wrong for your company's future

o Practical suggestions to help you refine and adjust your business strategies and processes for future success in an innovation based economy
